Chapter Fourteen

Raquel texted me and said that Jezzy was going to be in town. He has the pent house at the Renaissance hotel again downtown and invited her and I .She said Jezzy was cool if I brought Tim. I called her.

“Hey, is Jezzy having a concert?” I asked.

“Yeah at small club and I told him I think you would want to go and plus I didn’t want to go, so I used you.”

“Damn, I guess. But you right I wouldn’t want to be in no body club but my own.”

“I hear ya. So are you going to come? He said he should be done around 12 am and we can be there way before then. He said we can order room service.”

“Having a night out; I don’t know if my momma going to go for that. You know how she been.”

“See if Rodney people can keep Tyrone and it’s your momma turn to stay overnight with baby girl right?”

“Yeah I guess.”

“Come on Ebonika you need a night out. There’s been too much going on in your life to not have a night out.”

“I can agree about the craziness”

“You are pregnant and its free food. “She explained.

“Food does sound good. I guess it’s not as if I can drink or get high. Shit all I be doing is looking at ya’ll getting high and eating.”

“Yeah, but we could make it like a mini party. We would have music, food, and it will be other drinks besides alcohol.”

“Okay. I do need to get away before the babies come in a couple months. Then I don’t know what’s about to happen with baby girl.” Just thinking about my life briefly; how it’s such a mess this past year, really has me re-evaluating some things.

“Look Ebonika, don’t worry about anything. Just relax tonight and enjoy yourself. Plus, you will be in good company with a fine ass man.” Raquel said.

“Yeah a fine man who’s not my husband. I don’t know if he can come yet.”

“Well just invite him. I know he’s ain’t going to say no. The way he looks at you Rodney better get it together or Tim going to swoop your ass right on up.”

“Yeah okay. After I drop Tyrone off, I will come to get you. I would rather we ride together.”

“Okay that’s cool.”

I called Rodney’s Auntie Barbara; she said that she was fine with watching Tyrone. She said that her grandbabies were coming over so he will have someone to play with. I didn’t mention to momma that I was going out, didn’t want to hear no negativity. I don’t know why we at each other right now, but it’s been like a war zone. I think she might need to find her a man. I am going to look into that. I love my daddy and I would love them to be together, but the body has needs. I know she hasn’t heard from my daddy in couple of months. I can’t use the excuse that he doesn’t have money on his books to call or buy stamps, he just hasn’t communicated at all.
